Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Does every basement here need a sump pump?

No, and adding one isn't automatically an upgrade. Some foundations here drain to daylight and never needed a pump. Damp that persists after the ground dries out is the signal that the existing drainage isn't keeping up.

Where should I look for the main shutoff before a wet spring?

In an older house it is usually on the wall where the service line enters the basement, ahead of the meter. Find it while nothing is wrong, and check that it actually turns. A seized valve is worth handling before it is the only thing between you and a flooded floor.

The pump cycles constantly and the water level never drops. Why?

Water that can't leave the pipe comes straight back down, so the level holds steady no matter how long the motor runs. Ice in the outlet is the seasonal version. A pump left fighting that will fail well before its normal service life is up.

Does my policy pay for a wet basement after the thaw?

That depends on the policy you hold, and the answer is often different for a burst pipe than for water that rises through the floor. Ask your insurance provider directly what your endorsements include. Documenting the depth and the date helps whatever the answer turns out to be.
