Upland's unique plumbing challenges

About 80 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Parkside

First frost typically lands around November 11

Seasonal timing

Around 79.8 freezing nights a year is enough that a supply run inside a common wall stays near the risk line for weeks at a stretch.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

How long does a cast iron drain stack last?

There is no fixed figure: cast iron rusts inward, so the outside stays convincing long after the wall of the pipe has gone thin, particularly at the joints. Replacing a serving section while the wall is already open costs less disruption than coming back for it later.

The basement is damp. Is that plumbing or groundwater?

Both are common in older housing and they look alike at first, though groundwater usually arrives after rain and along the base of the wall while a plumbing leak keeps going in dry weather and stays near one run. Marking the edge of the damp with a pencil and coming back to it in a dry week settles the argument cheaply.

Can a plumber work on a shared stack without going next door?

Often not, or not completely: a cleanout on your own side may clear a soft blockage, but a corroded or cracked length of a stack serving both halves has to be opened where the damage sits. Sorting the access question with the other household before the work starts usually saves a second visit.
