Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Can tree roots affect the outdoor water line?

Roots are more of a problem for drain and sewer piping than for a pressurised supply line, since supply pipe is sealed. Roots can still shift shallow piping over time. If an outdoor line moves enough, the joint at the wall is where it gives.

What happens to the outdoor line if the house sits empty over winter?

An empty house is where outdoor and unheated runs cause the worst damage, because nobody is there when it lets go. Shutting the main and draining down the system is the usual approach. If the property is heated but unoccupied, keeping outdoor branches isolated still matters.

Why do outdoor problems only show up in spring?

Because the split happens while the water inside the pipe is frozen and the pipe can't leak, then reveals itself the first time the tap is opened under pressure. Nothing looks wrong all winter. Around Altoona and here that first spring use is when the calls come.

My outdoor tap was replaced but still freezes. Why?

Most often the replacement is the right type but the wrong length, so the valve seat ends up sitting in the cold section of the wall instead of inside the warm space. Wall thickness varies a lot in older housing. Measuring the assembly against the wall is what settles it.
