First frost usually arrives around Nov 2, and once the cellar cools for good, condensation on a cold iron stack shows up as a damp patch that gets blamed on a leak.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why is the water pressure low in an older house?

Galvanized supply piping corrodes inward and loses most of its bore over the decades, which drops flow worst at the fixtures farthest from the meter. A pressure test shows whether the trouble is the service line or the interior piping.

Do row homes share a drain stack?

Not usually. Most row houses have their own stack even where the party wall is shared, though a shared lateral out to the main does turn up in older blocks. A camera run is how that gets confirmed.

How long does a cast iron drain stack last?

Usually somewhere between 50 and 80 years, though water chemistry and the pitch of the line matter as much as the calendar does. Rust builds inward, so the pipe narrows well before it leaks. A camera inspection is what tells you where a given stack actually stands.

Who owns the sewer line between the house and the street?

The homeowner owns the lateral in almost every case, including the section under the sidewalk and often the connection at the main. The borough or city takes over at the main itself. That split is why a collapse in the front yard lands on the property owner.
