Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Do I need a backflow device on an outdoor tap?

Many local water systems ask for a vacuum breaker on any hose connection, and most newer sillcocks have one built into the head. Older taps in Brookville and around here often don't. Adding one is a small job and it keeps hose water from being pulled back into the house supply if pressure drops.

What is a curb stop and can I operate it myself?

It's the utility's valve in a small buried box between the street and the house, and it isolates the service line. Homeowners generally aren't meant to operate it, since it needs a long key and a damaged stop becomes an expensive dig. If the interior main valve won't hold, that's a call to make.

Where is my main shutoff likely to be?

In most older homes here it's on the wall where the service line enters, usually the basement side facing the street, near the meter. Everyone in the house should know where it is before there's a reason to use it. If the valve is stiff or weeping, that's worth addressing while nothing is urgent.
