Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Will insurance cover a cracked drain stack?

That depends on your policy, and your insurance provider is the one to ask. A sudden failure is treated differently from long-term seepage under most policies. Photograph the wet area and hold onto any section of pipe that gets cut out.

Why does the basement smell like sewage in winter?

A dried-out floor drain trap is the usual reason, since nothing runs into it for months and the water seal evaporates. A rusted-through stack will do it too. Either way, sewer gas is getting past a seal meant to hold it back.

Does the whole stack have to come out at once?

Not always. A damaged section can be cut out and replaced on its own, though on a stack that has failed in one place the rest is the same age and often the same condition. Inspecting the full run is what settles the question.

What is the banging in the wall when the washer shuts off?

Water hammer, caused by a fast-closing valve with nowhere for the pressure spike to go. On old plumbing it works joints loose over time. An arrestor or a functioning air chamber is the usual answer.
