Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why are the upstairs drains slow when the basement runs fine?

Scale inside an old iron stack builds unevenly, and the narrowest section sets the pace for everything above it. A partial restriction high in the stack shows up as slow tubs and sinks on the top floor first.

How long does a cast iron drain stack last?

Usually somewhere between 50 and 80 years, though water chemistry and the pitch of the line matter as much as the calendar does. Rust builds inward, so the pipe narrows well before it leaks. A camera inspection is what tells you where a given stack actually stands.

What is the banging in the wall when the washer shuts off?

Water hammer, caused by a fast-closing valve with nowhere for the pressure spike to go. On old plumbing it works joints loose over time. An arrestor or a functioning air chamber is the usual answer.

Where is the shutoff if the basement valve won't turn?

There's a curb stop out near the street, usually under a small metal lid in the sidewalk or the grass strip, and the water utility can operate it. Inside, the valve on the street side of the meter is the one that stops incoming water.
