Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Should I filter the water while a lead line is being replaced?

Providers generally recommend it for a period after the swap, as the disturbance releases particles. The rating matters here, so check that the cartridge is meant for lead. Flushing guidance from the provider closes out the job properly.

Does a public lead line replacement include the pipe under my yard?

It remains the owner's pipe, and it is not swapped automatically when the public side is. Doing both halves while the trench is open is usually simpler than opening the same ground twice. The provider's program documents spell out the covered portion, so ask for them.

Who does lead testing for a house on public water?

Your water provider can usually arrange or advise on a test, and many run sampling programs for homes with known lead lines. Independent laboratories will also take a sample. A test tells you about the water, while the line inventory tells you about the pipe.

Is there a way to identify what my incoming pipe is made of?

Check the first few feet inside the building, where the material is usually still original. Neither check settles it if that visible section was already swapped for copper. Water providers keep line inventories now, so yours may already have the address on file.

Does cold weather make an old supply line fail faster?

It is, because cold ground shifts and contracts around pipe that is already thin from corrosion. Joints that were fine in warm ground begin to seep once the freeze reaches them. Pressure that falls off in the cold and recovers in spring points the same direction.
