Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Does an addition change the freeze risk?

Often yes, because additions are where pipe leaves the heated envelope. A back kitchen or a bath built over a crawl gets far colder than the original core of the house, and that is where a split tends to happen first.

Where is the curb stop and can I shut it myself?

It is usually a small metal lid in the strip between the sidewalk and the street, and it takes a long key that most homeowners don't have. The main shutoff inside the basement is the valve to know. Water systems generally prefer to operate the curb stop themselves.

Why does the drain back up only in winter?

Ground movement in a freeze can open a joint that was already cracked, and a partly blocked lateral shows up faster when everyone is indoors using more water. A camera run tells you whether it is roots or a break.

Well or city water, does it change what freezes?

It changes what fails first. A house on a well has a pressure tank and a run from the well head that can freeze, while a house on city water has the meter and the service line to worry about. Both share the same exposed hose bibs.
